Growing up on my family farm just outside of Lethbridge, providing a variety of life lessons I attribute to my learning journey. The local 4-H community, of which I was a part of for 16 years, provided an environment to find my voice, and it was here that I discovered a passion for working with youth. At an early age, I found meaning in helping others, fostering the development of self-esteem and increasing the confidence of youth.

Through this program, I developed confidence in pursuing vocal performance and sharing my passion for music. The community, connection, and meaning between others that music creates are at the root of my love and incorporation of music into therapy. This sense of community is something I also found in my participation in sport where there is a shared connection, a common purpose, and an understanding of performance, sportsmanship, team camaraderie, and self-fulfillment. This has sparked my interest in psychology and sports therapy.

My exposure to psychology and counselling provided me with a structure to make sense of my interest and curiosity in other’s stories and oriented me towards assisting others in struggle. My pursuit of counselling as a career has never wavered. I am here to serve a larger purpose in helping others. My experience ranges from working with adults with disabilities as a community disability service worker, and with children with disabilities and learning delays as an educational assistant. I have also worked in several youth programs, creating and implementing programming and working with youth on self-esteem and emotional regulation.

I completed a Diploma in Psychology and Sociology from Lethbridge College, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology,  and a Masters of Counselling degree from the University of Lethbridge. I was provided with the opportunity to complete the 300-hour clinical practicum component of this program at Core Elements Counselling & Holistic Health, under the supervision of Alicia Hinger, Registered Psychologist, BSc, MPC. During this time I found a further profound passion for this work.

Moving forward I intend to register with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP) and continue building my career at Core Elements Counselling & Holistic Health. In the future, I also intend on giving back to the counselling community by supervising emerging students interested in pursuing a career in counselling.

As a counsellor, my commitment is to provide a place from which others may find safety, acceptance and comfort in the therapy process. Collaboratively we will create a working relationship where the ability to be authentic and compassionate is met with integrity and the desire to overcome current obstacles.
